Case Study #1: Ceramic Coating – Exhaust End Cap Adapters
When it comes to motorcycle accessories, attention to detail and aesthetic harmony plays a crucial role. That’s why years ago, Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde decided to introduce a red-coated ring specifically designed for CVO end cap adapters. With the introduction of this ‘Adapter Kit,’ motorcyclists can incorporate the distinctive Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde red colour into their exhaust system, perfectly complementing the original details of the CVO.
As part of this build, we offered one of our polymer ceramic coatings, which seamlessly compliments with the colours on the Harley-Davidson Touring model, while also making it stand out. Not only did the coating enhance the appearance of the exhaust system, but it also improved its performance. “A robust coating, such as the one offered by Zircotec, acts as a shield, preventing corrosion, heat damage, and discoloration,” Tom Goosen from Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde added. Case Study #2: Exhaust Heat Shield – ZircoFlex® FOIL
The Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde Apex exhaust, designed for the Harley-Davidson Sportster S, is not only visually striking but also prioritizes safety and protection for riders. The exhaust’s heat shield is constructed from carbon fibre, making it lightweight and highly durable.
Zircotec’s unique and revolutionary ceramic heat shielding technology played its part in the exhaust design by reducing heat soak onto the carbon fibre surface, in turn protecting the carbon fibre from delamination and degradation from heat. ZircoFlex® FOIL is a thin and flexible ceramic heat shielding solution, this offered Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde the ability to create custom heat shields to fit the shape of their Apex exhaust perfectly, while keeping it lightweight (with options starting at only 460g.m² in weight , and 0.25mm thick). ZircoFlex® FOIL can reduce heat conductivity by up to 85%, minimizing heat soak onto the heat shield’s surface, providing the ideal solution Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde needed for their Apex exhaust.
