Dos And Dont

The Do’s and Don’ts of Exhaust Ceramic Coating

Exhaust ceramic coatings have become increasingly popular for their ability to enhance performance and heat management in both cars and bikes. To ensure that you get the most out of your exhaust ceramic coating investment, it’s essential to follow some key do’s and don’ts to maintain your ceramic coating as best as possible.

Do’s:

Wear gloves during installation
To minimise contaminants on the exhaust ceramic coating surface, it is recommended to wear gloves during the installation process. This will prevent any oils and dirt from transferring onto the coating.

Maintenance (minimal)
Being a fit-and-forget application, our exhaust ceramic coatings require minimal maintenance. However, if surface cleaning is required, we recommend simply cleaning with hot soapy water. This gentle approach will help preserve the coating’s integrity and effectiveness. Avoid using harsh chemicals.

Don’ts:

Apply exhaust wrap over ceramic coating
Avoid wrapping a Zircotec coated exhaust with additional materials such as exhaust wraps, as this will void the warranty of the ceramic coating product. In general, wrapping your exhaust can potentially trap moisture underneath the wrap, especially in humid environments or when exposed to rain (i.e. On a bike). Trapping moisture for a prolonged period encourages the contact with metallic surfaces of the exhaust system, which can potentially lead to rust corrosion, compromising the performance of the coating, and the exhaust.

Apply additional paint on top
Refrain from applying additional paint over the ceramic coating. Using paint that isn’t suitable for temperatures generated by traditional internal combustion engines can cause deformation and damage the aesthetics of the original ceramic coating finish.

Avoid harsh impacts
While our ceramic coatings are renowned for their high-performance, durability and wear resistance, it’s still important to avoid harsh physical impacts of the coated parts. Taking reasonable care upon installation preserves the integrity, longevity & thermal properties of the coating itself.

Here’s what our customers have had to say about our ceramic coatings and its longevity.
